Meet Your Hosts

The Boss

Shadow at gumbo limbo hotel caye caulker belize

We love our fuzzy friends! Shadow is a silly, friendly and playful Belizean “potlicker”. Her mother is an Old English Sheep Dog who escaped her home on the mainland for a day of fun in the city.

As a result, Shadow was shipped to Caye Caulker on Tropic Air and became “the boss” of The Gumbo Limbo!

Second In Command

Tito aka “Tito fomo” was born in September 2020 and found wandering the streets of Caye Caulker at 6 weeks old. He’s taken on the role of “2nd in Command” at The Gumbo Limbo since.

Aria & Ben

Ben and Aria are the “humans” behind the scenes.

We will make your stay as amazing as we can!

We live on the Gumbo Limbo Property and we can either be available for a cocktail and a chat, or you will hardly see us at all – up to your preference.

However, we will always be available for questions and to attend to your needs.

First things first! How to pronounce Caye Caulker: “key corker”!

Now that you know how to pronounce our name, let’s talk about the facts.

Caye Caulker is a small limestone coral island off the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea measuring about 5 miles / 8.0 km (north to south) by less than 1 mile / 1.6 km (east to west).

The center of the island is known by the name Caye Caulker Village. Our population of Caye Caulker is approximately 2,500 people today and still growing.

Caye Caulker is located approximately 20 miles / 32 km north-northeast of Belize City. The island is an approximately 45-minute high-speed water taxi ride from Belize City or an 8-minute fight from Belize International Airport with Tropic Air or Mayan Air on a small plane.

Where To Find Us & How To Get Here

Please visit GoSlowCayeCaulker.com for detailed information on how to get to Caye Caulker.

We suggest making a pit stop at the Arrival Duty Free store at the International Airport in Belize City. Wine, liquor and cigarettes are much cheaper there than on the island!

When you arrive at Caye Caulker airport or the water taxi terminal, we recommend hopping on one of the golf cart taxis. It’s a short ride and the cost is $5 BZ ($2.50 US) per person. Taxis are usually readily available, but if you prefer, we’d be happy to schedule a ride for you.

Most taxi drivers know The Gumbo Limbo but just in case, we are located on Avenida Pueblo Nuevo right before Anchorage Hotel.
